Las Vegas, NV—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team remained undefeated Friday evening as the Highlanders picked up a 1-0 victory over Santa Clara in game one of the UNLV Johann Memorial Classic.

The first half was uneventful as the teams combined to take just one shot. The action picked up in the second half, however, with the Broncos outshooting UC Riverside 7-6. Vincent Morales and the Highlanders' defense kept Santa Clara off the scoreboard, though, and with 4:23 to go, Romario Lomeli found Antonio Lokossou on the left side of the Broncos box. Lokossou's strike from 10 yards out was all the offense UCR would need.

The win improved the Highlander to 2-0-0 on the season. The last time UC Riverside won its first two matches of the year was in the 2013 campaign, when they remained undefeated through their first seven matches.

The Highlanders take on host UNLV on Sunday at 7 pm PT in their final match of the Johann Memorial Classic.
