Women's Soccer Drops Big West Opener, 2-1, At Cal State Fullerton

Fullerton, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team lost its conference opener Friday evening, dropping a 2-1 decision at Cal State Fullerton.

The Highlanders and Titans combined to take 14 shots in the first half, but none found the back of the net. Cal State Fullerton (4-7-0, 0-1-0) broke the scoreless tie in the 62nd minute on Sarah Fajnor's first goal of the season.

Maribell Morales netted her first score of the year twelve-and-a-half minutes later to make it a two-goal Titans. lead.

UC Riverside (3-6-3, 0-1-0) cut the Fullerton advantage in half in the 86th minute as Darielle O'Brien and Sammy Arellano combined to find Quinley Quezada for her second score of the season, but that was all the offense the Highlanders could muster.

UCR return home Sunday for a 7 pm PT kick off against UC Irvine.
