Irvine, CA—The Big West announced today that four members of the UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team were named to the various all-conference teams for 2017.
Sophomore defender Amanda Roy earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team, as she anchored a UC Riverside defense that pitched four shutouts in nine Big West matches. The seven goals allowed by the Highlanders this season are the fewest they have allowed in conference play since 2005. Roy also contributed a goal and an assist on the offensive side of the ball.
Junior defender Kyra Taylor also made her mark on the UC Riverside defense, and was rewarded with a spot on the Big West Honorable Mention Team. She also added the game-winning assist in the Highlanders' 2-1 win over Toledo on September 1.
Senior forward Ashley Webb joined Taylor on the Honorable Mention Team, leading the Highlanders in goals (4) and points (10). Two of her scores were game-winners—in UC Riverside's 1-0 victory over Southern Utah on August 18, and in the team's 4-0 blanking of Hawai'i to close out the regular season.
Midfielder Miah Conde impressed Big West coaches, and earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team, contributing a goal and two assists to the Highlanders' offensive cause. Her first assist led to the game-winning score at Cal Poly on October 1, and her first career score put the exclamation point on a 3-0 victory over UC Davis on October 26.
The Highlanders take on CSUN in the semifinals of the Big West Conference Tournament on Thursday, November 2 beginning at 7:30 pm PT.
