Malibu, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team (2-6) erased nearly all of an 18-point Pepperdine (3-6) lead in the second half, Tuesday evening, but they weren't quite able to get over the hump, dropping a 70-59 decision on the road to the Waves.

Pepperdine scored the first seven points of the game, and built an 18-point lead late in the first half. UC Riverside countered with a 9-0 run to start the second half, and cut the Waves' advantage to two, 44-42, with 11:20 remaining. That was as close as the Highlanders would get though, as Pepperdine led by eight or more points for the last 8:39 of the game.
GAME NOTES
Menno Dijkstra and DJ Sylvester each scored a season-high 11 points.
The Highlanders had four players score in double figures—Chance Murray (15), Dijkstra (11), Sylvester (11) and Dikymbe Martin (11).
Alex Larsson just missed out on a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
UC Riverside's 11 turnovers were the fewest the have committed this season, but Pepperdine turned them into 18 points.
The Highlanders were outscored by 13 points at the free throw line which is the largest discrepancy of the season. Pepperdine's 84.0 shooting percentage from the line was the highest percentage by a UC Riverside opponent this season.
UC Riverside has posted a higher field goal percentage than the opposition in six of eight games this season.
