Riverside—The UC Riverside Baseball Team is holding a special press conference at "The Plex" on Tuesday, February 14 at 2:45 pm PT to announce the team's adoption of Dylan Cavender in conjunction with the "
Friends of Jaclyn Foundation."
The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers, and to raise awareness through their "Adopt-A-Child," "Safe on the Sidelines," and "Guardian Angel" programs. They do this by pairing the afflicted child and their siblings with local high school and college sports teams, campus clubs, and arts programs in their community.
UC Riverside Head Baseball Coach Troy Percival and the rest of the Highlanders will welcome Dylan to the team Tuesday afternoon, where he will be joined by his mother, Heather Rainey, and the founder of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, Denis Murphy
This is the second time that a UC Riverside Athletics program has partnered with Friends of Jaclyn.
The Highlanders Volleyball Team welcomed Cynthia Aguirre to the program in November of 2014. Sadly, Cynthia lost her battle with brain cancer on June 30, 2015 (
