Goodyear, AZ–Julia Sander earned her first career top-5 finish thanks to being one of seven players in the 77-player field to shoot even par or better in the final round of the Bobcat Desert Invitational Tuesday. (

Sander, who posted a career-low 69 yesterday, began the final round on no. 16, and had 11 straight pars before breaking through on the 308 yard, par 4 ninth hole with a birdie. She bogeyed hole. no 14, ending a 22 hole bogey-free streak that went back to round two, a stretch she played at -4. Sander shot even par over the final 18 to finish in a tie for fifth for the championship at +5.
Hannah Facchini, who started the day in a tie for seventh, did well to recover after opening with a double bogey at the 511 yard, par 5 16th. She played the remaining 17 holes at +1, highlighted by a birdie at the par 3 14th.
Krista Twet finished alone in 66th after three rounds at the Golf Club of Estrella.
Cal Poly's Sophia Bergland (-4) claimed medalist honors in leading the Mustangs to the team title.
The
Big West Women's Golf Championship is up next for the UC Riverside Women's Golf Team. They host the conference tournament April 23-25 at Oak Quarry Golf Club.
