Curtan, Misfeldt, And Richard Receive Big West Softball All-Conference Recognition

Irvine, CA–Today the Big West announced that UC Riverside Softball players Jenna Curtan, Tayler Misfeldt, and Maddy Richard were all selected to the 2017 All-Conference Team.

Curtan was selected to the All-Conference First Team for the second straight year. She finished the 2017 season with a .351 batting average, 31 RBIs, and a .439 slugging percentage–all team highs. She had 14 multi-hit games, an 11-game hitting streak, and four games where she drove-in multiple runs.

The junior from Roseville, CA also logged a team-leading 52 hits, .439 slugging percentage, and a league-leading four triples. Curtan was also named to 2016 NFCA All-Region Second Team.

Richard finishes her career with a Division I program a record .379 batting average, and .466 on-base percentage. She is third in the program's DI history with 61 stolen bases, and her .422 slugging percentage is sixth. The Encinitas, CA native has produced 12 multi-hit games, including a five-hit performance against Cal State Fullerton this season.

She won the 2016 Big West Batting Title with a program record .452 batting average. She was also Second Team NFCA All-Region and First Team All-Conference that year.

For Misfeldt, a junior from Tracy, CA, this year's recognition is her second straight All-Conference Second Team nod.

Her 79 strikeouts on the year ranked eighth in the Big West, while the 4.17 batters she struck out per seven innings was ninth. Misfeldt had three complete-game shutouts, pitched more than seven innings on seven occasions, including 12 against Cal State Fullerton.

She is currently second on the program's DI career win list with 37, just three short of the record total of 40 wins.
