Rebecca Faulkner Named To NFCA Softball Pacific All-Region Second Team

Louisville, KY–This morning, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 2017 Division I All-Region teams, and UC Riverside Softball junior Rebecca Faulkner was selected to the Pacific Region Second Team.

Faulkner, from Redwood City, CA, shined as a utility player and relief pitcher for the 2017 Highlanders. She hit .370 with eight multi-hit games in the 19 games she started. Faulkner had a four-game stretch this season in which she went nine for 11 (.818) at the plate, hit a homerun, drove-in five RBIs, scored four runs, and drew four walks.

In the circle, she picked up a win, and a save, while striking out 12 in 21.2 innings of work. Faulkner missed the entire 2016 season with a knee-injury, after a 2015 campaign that saw her earn Big West All-Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team honors having led the team in all three slash line categories, home runs, RBIs, and total bases.

The NFCA awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
