RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside welcomed CSUN back to the Riverside Sports Complex on Friday night for game two of a three-game series, falling 5-0.
Andrew Rivas and Anthony Mata notched two hits apiece in game two, while Jeremiah Priddy and Caleb Turner recorded three strikeouts each.
UCR put itself in a position to plate runs with a pair of doubles in the third inning. Mason Grace led off the inning with a double down the left field line before Jacob Badawi reached on a fielder's choice. Rivas doubled as Badawi, then on second, wheeled 180 feet around only to be thrown out at home from right field.
The Matadors put a runner on third in the fifth inning, but Priddy fanned his second batter of the night on six pitches to make it two outs with one on. CSUN plated the runner from third home on a wild pitch and tacked on one more before the end of the inning.
Anthony McFarland worked a 14-pitch at-bat into a leadoff double in the eighth, but UC Riverside couldn't plate a run across.
UCR and the Matadors will finish out the three-game series on Saturday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
