Tucson, AZ—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team moved up four spots Tuesday in the final round of the Arizona Intercollegiate, shooting a six-over par 290 to finish in 12th place out of 15 teams at The Golf Club at Vistoso.
The field completed the second round of play in the morning as darkness suspended action on Monday, and the Highlanders found themselves in 15th after their second-round score of 302.
Utilizing five scores in the 70's, UCR moved past Central Arkansas, Utah, and Santa Clara with a third-round 290 for a three-round total of 900.
Christian Rajcic's 70 and Ryan Smith's 71 led the way for the Highlanders in the final round.
For the tournament, Rajcic (76-76-70) tied with UCR teammate David Gazzolo (74-74-74) for 39th place with 222 total scores.
Smith tied for 52nd with a 224 (78-75-71) while Bradley Fox (80-80-75=235) tied for 80th and Jason Semthiti (83-77-79=239) finished in 85th.
#5 New Mexico came from behind for the team win, shooting an 844 three-round score. TCU finished just two strokes back at 846 while #1 California came in third with an 847.
Cal's Michael Kim and Joel Stalter tied for the individual lead with nine-under-par 204 scores.
UC Riverside now returns to the Golden State to host a dual match against Western Illinois on February 8.
