Men's Golf Moves Up One Spot To Conclude Bill Cullum Invitational

Simi Valley, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team moved up one spot to conclude action at the Bill Cullum Invitational Tuesday afternoon, finishing 14th out of 20 teams with a three-round score of 882. Full Results. Day 1 Story.
The Highlanders were only two shots behind 13th-place Long Beach State, and 10 back of ninth place while beating out four other Big West teams in Cal Poly, Hawai'i, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal State Fullerton.
No. 21 ranked USC won the event with an 833 total, nine shots ahead of No. 27 Arizona State (844).
David Gazzolo was UC Riverside's top finisher, carding a three-round 212 (67-74-71) to tie for 13th place. He was only one shot back of a tie for eighth, and four off of fourth place.
ASU's Jon Rahm took home individual medalist honors with a 13-under-par 203.
Sam Gillis carded the low score of the day for the Highlanders with a 70, which tied him for 35th overall with a 219 total (72-77-70). Pachara Sakulyong tied for 62nd with rounds of 77-71-77 (225) while Matt Lutz was one stroke back at 226 (76-74-76) to tie for 70th. Anthony Bonales tied for 98th to round out the squad.
UC Riverside's fall season is now completed with action resuming on January 26, 2015 for the Mission Cup.
