Ferraro Takes Home Individual Crown As Women's Golf Wins Santa Clara Colby Inv.

San Jose, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Golf Team won the Santa Clara Colby Invitational Tuesday led by a first-place individual finish by senior Brittani Ferraro. Complete Results. Day 1 Story.
The Highlanders led after the first day of competition, and shot a 313 in the final round to win the eight-team tournament by a total three-round score of 927. The Highlanders beat out the host Broncos (936) who finished second, while Cal Poly placed third at 937.
This is the first win for UC Riverside since October 8, 2013 when the Highlanders won the Birdies for Breast Cancer Tournament (recap/video).
Ferraro was in second place following the first day of action, but shot 72 in the final round to come from behind for the win, finishing with a three-round total of 221 (75-74-72). She beat out Annie Freman from Santa Clara, who placed second with a 222.
This is also Ferraro's second career win as she also took home medalist honors at the Birdies for Breast Cancer Tournament last season.
Behind Ferraro, Savannah Vilaubi tied for fifth individually with scores of 76-76-79 (231) while Haley Wian placed 10th with a 235 (75-76-84). Hannah Facchini tied for 16th carding a 241 (80-83-78) while Krista Twet tied for 29th with scores of 80-82-85 (247).
Playing as an individual separate from the team score, Yuri Ahn tied for 40th with a 259 (89-82-88).
The Highlanders now have just five days to prepare for their next tournament, traveling to the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on October 26-28 in Las Vegas, NV. Live scoring of the event may be found here.
