College Sports Madness Names Cunningham, Barrio, Marani To BW All-Conference Teams

Riverside, CA—College Soccer Madness released its 2014 Big West Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams today, and UC Riverside's Tyler Cunningham was named to the first team while Blanca Barrio and Amber Marani earned second team accolades.
All three were honored by the Big West earlier in the week with all-conference honors (story).

Cunningham led the Highlanders with 16 points scoring three goals and recording 10 assists to set UC Riverside's record for most assists in a single season. Those 10 assists are also the second-most in the conference this year.
She earned Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors on August 25 after scoring a goal and adding two assists during the Highlanders games at the Rebel Classic (story). She was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Tournament Outstanding Offensive Player and to the All-Tournament Team after helping the Highlanders defeat Grand Canyon (3-0) and Northern Arizona (4-2).
Barrio tied for 10th in the league with four goals to lead the Highlanders, while also dishing out six assists for 14 total points—second on the squad behind Cunningham. Earlier in the year, she earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from September 8-14 after recording six points for the Highlanders in their two shutout victories against Northern Iowa and Bakersfield (story).
Marani was one of two players on the Highlanders squad to play in and start all 18 matches on the season. The Walnut, CA native scored her lone goal of the season against Cal Poly on October 19 (box score/recap).
The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team concluded its season with a 1-0 blanking of Long Beach State this past Sunday afternoon to finish the year with an 8-7-3 overall record—the team's first since the 2006 season.
