Gazzolo Ties For Fourth As Men's Golf Finishes Farms Collegiate Invite In Eighth

Rancho Santa Fe, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Golf Team dropped down two spots to conclude play at The Farms Collegiate Invite Tuesday after firing a third-round score of 303. The Highlanders placed eighth out of 12 squads with a total 894 score, just one shot back of seventh-place. Full Results. Day 1 Story.
Junior David Gazzolo tied for fourth individually to lead the team, coming in with a one-over-par 217 (69-73-75). He was four shots behind third place and seven back of first.
Kennesaw State's Jimmy Beck and San Diego's Grant Forrest both tied for the lead with identical 210 scores, but Forrest defeated Beck on the first playoff hole to win medalist honors.
Host San Diego won the team event with a four-under-par 860, while Kennesaw State finished second (874), with Loyola Marymount coming in third at 883.
UC Riverside was only four shots back of sixth place St. Mary's (890) and 10 behind fourth place Pacific (884).
After Gazzolo, Pachara Sakulyong was the Highlanders second-highest finisher, tying for 31st with rounds of 74-74-78 (226).
Jason Semthiti tied for 39th with a 228 (82-72-74), while Leven Simon Seay (81-73-76) and Brandon Tsujimoto (75-77-78) both tied for 49th with identical 230 totals.
Playing as an individual, Rayn Smith placed 66th with scores of 82-82-81 (245).
Next up for the Highlanders is the Wyoming Desert Classic February 21-23 in Palm Desert, CA.
