Honors Keep Coming For Hefflin, Named Big West Women's XC Athlete Of The Week

Irvine, CA—The Big West Conference announced Tuesday afternoon that UC Riverside senior Raquel Hefflin was named the league's Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Nevada Twilight Classic on August 29. This honor comes on the heels of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association naming Hefflin the NCAA Division I women's athlete of the week (story).

Hefflin won the 4K Nevada Twilight Classic in a time of 14:06, besting her closest competitor by 23 seconds.

She helped the Highlanders, which are ranked 13th in the West Region, to a third place finish out of six teams, including ahead of UCLA. The Bruins are ranked eighth in the most recent USTFCCCA poll. The teams that placed ahead of UC Riverside (Nevada and Utah) are ranked 10th and 7th respectively in the Mountain Region.

UC Riverside returns to action on Saturday, September 13 hosting its annual UCR Invitational at the Ag/Ops Course in Riverside.
